I've taken apart an old xbox and dissassembled its 8gb Western Digital harddrive. It's got a low profile motor in it which I'd like to use for some project. It doesn't have any markings on it that don't look like a serial number, but it has 3 pins that interface with it somehow. I've unfortunately already trashed the board that it connected to, so I can't look at any motor control ICs that were around that area. Does anyone here have any insight? Is it a stepper motor? Is it brushless DC? I don't have much experience with these kinds of things. I'd like to be able to control the direction and speed (I guess that's everything). Thanks! |
