In an attempt to get a forum system that is a little more organized than the flat forum here on makezine.com, we've gotten a forum system up on makingthings.com at http://www.makingthings.com/forum. Your login to the MakingThings site will allow you to post at this forum. Please let us know if there are forum categories that you think are missing. We'll be moving all the forum activity over to this location, so please direct any new posts over there. Thanks!
There are also now optional comment areas on the how-tos and tutorials. Feel free to add your comments there to extend the recommendations and shared knowledge.
Lastly, we've finally implemented a bug/issue tracking system. Rather than use the clunky SourceForge tracker, we've installed an instance of Trac at http://dev.makingthings.com - it's really nice!
This includes a ticketing system for keeping track of outstanding issues/problems/enhancement requests, an integrated wiki that will hopefully become a valuable resource for people developing the Make Controller, as well as source code browsing and roadmap for where the Make Controller is headed.
For the moment, tickets can be submitted and the wiki can be edited anonymously - and this can be for anything from typos in the documentation, to code contributions, to reports of things not working the way they should - so please come on down and help us squeeze all the bugs out of the Make Controller Kit!

| • | Want To Fly? Don't Copy The Birds And The Bees |
| There is little comparison between the appearance of any winged creatures and that of modern helicopters or jets, despite similar flight patterns. In an era in which engineers are increasingly exploiting designs from nature, understanding this paradox is becoming ever more important. Researchers have studied the reasons behind these differences in aerodynamics and concluded that scientists should, in this instance, be more hesitant before imitating nature. | |

| • | Pesticides Persist In Ground Water |
| Numerous studies over the past four decades have established that pesticides, which are typically applied at the land surface, can move downward to reach the water table at detectable concentrations. The downward movement of pesticide degradation products can also contribute to the contamination of ground water. This study found that the pesticides and degradation products detected most frequently in shallow ground-water samples were predominantly from two classes of herbicides -- triazines and chloroacetanilides. | |
